Skin Care tips during Menstruation Cycle.

The menstruation cycle comes with many problems for women. Due to hormonal changes during the menstruation cycle, women often face oily skin, pimples around cheeks and forehead, acne, and spots. Women use foundation and concealers to hide these problems, but it peeps out after some time. There are four stages of the Menstruation Cycle:

  • Menstruation
  • Follicular Phase
  • Ovulation
  • Luteal Phase

Women need to follow a specific skin routine during these phases. Below given tips will give you healthy, glowing, and clear skin during the menstruation cycle.

Skin Care routine during Menstruation:

At the initial start of the period, women experience a dry, dull, and lifeless skin appearance. It happens because, during the first days of the menstruation cycle, hormones, namely estrogen and progesterone, are low. During the initial start of the period, your skin needs a little more maintenance than regular days.

How to take care of skin during Menstruation Cycle?

Due to the excessive production of sebum by sebaceous glands, your skin tends to appear more oily during the period’s initial start. Switch to clean your face twice a day during periods if you wash your face only one time during regular days. It will protect your skin from an oily appearance, and it will also prevent skin acne. Omit sugar and carbs in your diet; it will save you from breakouts.

If you are suffering from any menstrual disorders and your skin is affected, take proper medication and supplements. Consult with your doctor and start adequate treatment to avoid cystic acne and acne scars, which is the most common skin problem found in women suffering from menstrual disorders. You can also opt for facial treatment from your local cosmetician as they understand your skin better during the menstrual cycle.

Skin routine during Follicular Phase:

The follicular phase is after 10-16 days of the Menstrual cycle. During this phase, the hormone, namely estrogen, rises, feeling your skin better than earlier days. At this phase, a hormone named testosterone is highly found male, but some of this hormone is produced by the female body and will rise. During the thirteenth day of the menstruation Cycle, estrogen levels will be high, and your skin will feel nourished and plumpy. In this phase, your regular skin routine is enough to keep your skin healthy and nourished.

Skin routine during Ovulation:

Day fourteen is the day where the ovulation Menstruation Cycle starts. Skin will appear healthy and nourished until the testosterone and estrogen fall again. A hormone name progesterone will increase, which will make your skin look oily. During this phase, the luteinizing hormone will make your skin prone to bacteria. Ensure that you don’t go to bed with makeup and keep your hands clean and hygienic to avoid the transfer of bacteria to the skin that causes acne. Choose oil-free skincare products during this phase. You can also use water-based skin products like sprays, micellar but don’t forget to wash them off after use. Avoid using products that will clog the pores.

Skin routine during Luteal Phase:

It is a phrase that begins in the second half of the cycle, once the ovulation period starts. PMS, known as Premenstrual symptoms, is a common issue that is suffered by every woman. It begins with mood swings, irritation, bloating, and breakouts commonly seen in the chin area. During PMS and Menstruation cycle, women will experience oily skin, bloating, and swelling in the whole body, because of dehydration. Intake of enough water and a vitamin-rich diet is essential during the menstruation cycle, saving your skin from dehydration and other skin related issues.

Concluding the topic, women experience many changes in their bodies during the menstruation cycle. It is because of hormonal imbalance in women’s bodies. It is essential to take care of your skin and health during ‘those days.’ The above skincare tips will surely help you to get rid of unwanted skin issues during periods.
